WHY IS SHANTAI SUCH GOOD SPECIALTY COFFEE?
Not all coffees are the same.
For a bean to be considered speciality coffee, it must meet international standards that guarantee its quality and cup profile.
Do you know them? We explain them below.
Criteria for being considered speciality coffee
To receive this distinction, the coffee must meet two fundamental requirements:
100% Arabica origin: A variety known for its smoothness, aromatic complexity and lower caffeine content.
In-cup score: According to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), a coffee must score more than 80 points out of 100 to be considered speciality coffee. Headline: At Shantai, we go beyond. The standards of speciality coffee are only our starting point. At Shantai, we work to go one step further and offer a superior experience.
What makes us different within speciality coffee?
We select only coffees scoring 85 points or more: We work with lots that express greater complexity, balance and aromatic richness.
We take care with every origin: Beans that do not reach this standard, although they remain high quality, are used for local consumption, contributing to a more respectful and sustainable model.
We aim for a more balanced experience: The result is a clean cup, with gentle acidity and a natural sweetness that lets you appreciate every nuance.
And now that you know us, it is time to go one step further by enjoying all the nuances of our speciality coffee.
